The BeAware Bahrain smartphone app utilises cloud technologies and location tracking to help the authorities quickly and easily identify individuals in contact with anyone who has shown COVID-19 symptoms, as well as track and alert them.
Long With the pandemic the whole world is facing and in line with directives of the Kingdom of Bahrain Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to deploy modern technologies in finding a solution to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), in cooperation with the National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19), worked endlessly to introduce the BeAware Bahrain app to help support national efforts in mitigating the virus spread.

About BeAware Bahrain App
Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the Government of Bahrain, following the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines has been implementing a critical response plan ensuring social distancing measures virus contact tracing, health care facility surge facilities along with clear and tailored communications to the public. The Government is leveraging various digital technologies to Government’s response plans particularly towards the virus contact tracing and tailored communications.

The Government of Bahrain is committed to safeguarding the privacy of data in line with the personal data protection law and assures that the data collected through the app is strictly only used for the sole purpose of limiting the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 contact tracing by health authorities and does not reveal the personal identity of the users to any third party . Data encryption is used to protect sensitive data.
BeAware Bahrain App Features
BeAware Bahrain provides the following services and features:
- My Cards: A digital government wallet that enables users to view their official identification cards & documents such as: Identity Card, Passport, Birth Certificate, Driving License, Vehicle Ownership Certificate.
- My Medical Appointments: Users can view all their appointments for government hospitals & health centres, Salmainya Medical Complex medical prescriptions delivery, and COVID-19 test & vaccination.
- My Health Cards: Users can view their l heath records & documents such as:

- Test Results: users can view & print their (Polymerase Chain Reaction) PCR test certificate.
- View & print isolation and recovery certificates for COVID-19 and Monkey Pox The app also offers services related to COVID-19 as follows:
- Registration for Coronavirus Vaccines: Enables users to register & book an appointment to take the approved vaccines.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate: Users can issue a vaccination certificate through the application.
- COVID-19 antibody test: Enables users to book an appointment for COVID-19 anti bodies test and given shield is provided for 3 months or 6 months depending on the result
- Isolation certificate: Enables user to view their isolation certificate after starting their self-isolation through the App while infected by COVID-19.
- Recovery certificate: Enable recovered users from COVID-19 to view and print the recovery certificate.
- Valneva vaccine consent form: Enables users to consent for the use of Valneva COVID-19 vaccine as authorized by the Kingdom of Bahrain for emergency use.
- Contact Tracing: Alerts users to get tested once they have been in contact with a positive case.
- Coronavirus Test Results and certificate: Enables users to view Coronavirus lab test results once released by the test centre.
- Declaration for Exiting Bahrain: Enables Bahraini citizens to declare their responsibility for travelling abroad before leaving the country.
- Payment for Arrivals Test: Enables individuals entering Bahrain to pay for their Coronavirus (COVID-19) test.
- Health record submission on Tawakkalna: Enables users to submit their current health record details to Tawakkalna mobile App

Technologies utilized in BeAware Bahrain App
The BeAware Bahrain Mobile App, utilizing cloud and location data, enables the Government to swiftly identify, traceback and warn people who have been in contact with someone who is showing symptoms of the COVID-19 virus. The BeAware Bahrain application is available in six languages (Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and Persian) to ensure that no one is left without access to the application.
The application is paired with a Bluetooth enabled, water and tamper-proof smart bracelets to augment the sharing of real-time tracking information of self-isolated individuals with health workers. The application also notifies the users in self-isolation to schedule their compulsory exit swab tests 3 days before the end of their isolation period.
